Paul Allen Striker in disguise?

When I got back to the club after our win there was this guy sat in the corner of the clubhouse with a grin like a cheshire cat. He burbled something about two fantastic strikes from a defender, then about bringing another defender on who scored, was wondering whether to play up front against Paulsgrove!!

The first a poachers finish from the 'fox in the box', the second was a peach of a half volley leathered in off the underside of the bar, bouncing on the line 'Tony Yeboah esq' and in to the roof of the net - however both strikes were overshadowed by the Ravanelli airplane celebration!!

Then on to Gleeson -Darren Bent in disguise, racing on to a neat through ball from Milczarek (note to editor, this is the correct spelling!) keeping a cool head and leathering into the bottom left corner, follwed by a rather more cool, calm finger in the air celebration!!

In other words the bookies cleaned up on the scorer stakes...

Re: Paul Allen Striker in disguise?

Dear Editor,

Having shamelessly reported my inability to cut the ball back and find an Otters player with the game delicately poised at 0-0, I feel it's only fair to point out that it was my 'exquisite' through ball which found Milczarek in the time and space which allowed him to chip the goalkeeper for the 4th goal. Also, it was my tracking back (yes - tracking back) and nipping the ball away from the Team Solent defender which eventually led to Bent, I mean Gleeson, firing in an excellent 5th goal...

I also feel that your description of my goal to make it 1-0 were somewhat underwhelming... I had been thinking of adjectives such as 'nonchalant', 'exceptional' and 'breathtaking'... The words 'delightful' and 'deft' don't seem to do it justice, although I do applaud your clever use of allitteration!

Finally I would like to remind the editor that my surname is spelt Thiara. 1 'r' please thank you - at last an explanation as to why the premier league clubs have yet to get in touch.

Yours Sincerely,

The Brown-Faced Assassin.

PS. Please can someone tell Paul Allen and Mark Gleeson to stick to their dayjobs. Do you see Milczarek and myself making last-ditch tackles and putting our bodies on the line for the team? No you do not. So please refrain from thinking that a mere defender can all of a sudden acquire the good looks and lazy attitude, I mean reading of the game, required to become a successful striker. These are key skills - the goalscoring charts are simlpy a red-herring.

Thanks.
