In a cagey first ten minutes both sides seemed to cancel each other out but then a neat ball from Knight split the Uni defence and as Tom ran clear and into the box, the goalkeeper bought him down. Penalty and the goalkeeper booked but so was Tom for asking why as he was last man didn’t he send him off?
Craig Willson stepped up to blast the ball home.
This seemed to wake us up and Aaron received the ball from Liam and turned the defender and got his shot off which was just wide of the post.
On twenty minutes Liam again received the ball from Gleeson, as he went to go past the defender he was fouled. He got up and knocked a great free kick into the box which Aaron Milne managed to beat the keeper to and head into the onion bag.
At this moment Beaser who looked ill was replaced by Sam Jakes.
This signaled end to end play and Knight was un-lucky when a misplaced kick by the keeper allowed him to return with interest a volley which just skipped wide.
Bournemouth then worked an opening on the left and Jamie Flood had to dive full length to palm the curling shot wide.
Jamie who was celebrating his 21st birthday from Friday night and was probably a bit hung over went for a simple cross and unusually didn’t catch it but fumbled and allowed their striker to prod home.
This gave Bournemouth some renewed belief and it took us the next ten minutes to get our composure back and on forty minutes we should have gone further ahead when Aaron and Liam inter-changed passes and Liam from the edge of the box screwed wide.
Jakesy was getting more and more into the game and his pull back was just blazed over, then Knight and Jakes combined for Knight to send a curled shot over the keeper but just wide.
Second half Bournemouth came put all guns blazing and put us under immense pressure and it was all hands to pump with Cole, JJ, Willson and Andy Kerr managing to snuff out most attacks before they came to anything.
On sixty minutes Otters forced a corner and Bournemouth managed to half clear the ball getting knocked back in by Gleeson, was again cleared only as far as the head of Janaway whose return header found Knight in the box and he forced the ball home.
Milne was replaced by Smyth and Youseff returned to the side from injury to replace Andy Kerr.
We were still on top and some good triangles allowed Youseff to get the ball across the box only for Tom to be adjudged offside. As the ball fell to him he tried to get hi shot off which went over the bar and onto the astro pitches. Their goalkeeper whined that to be consistent he had to book Tom for kicking the ball away! Which the referee did, second yellow for Tom and he was off, then he booked the keeper and he was off too, crazy decisions in a game that was never nasty!
Played last fifteen minutes with ten men and managed to create further chances but no more goals.
