Match Summary:
Fresh after nearly 48hours of rain which saw the Ryder cup delayed, Otterbourne were braced to build on last weeks first win of the season in the cup. This time against league leaders Cadnam. A challenging cup game earlier in the season saw Cadnam win convincingly and Player/Manager Ray Tilly was keen to bury those memories in the league.

The first half was closely fought and competitive, with the midfield of Smith and Judd holding strong. The main highlight was when Wilder pulled off an excellent save with Cadnam through one on one. Unfortunately only several minutes later, what was deemed a foul on Wilder by many,

Cadnam drew first blood. Despite being shaken at a poor referring decision, Warren calmed down and the defence held tight until the break with Cadnam taking a 1-0 lead into half time.

Otterbourne carried on in the second half positively, with only one like for like change with Langton replacing Tate in left midfield. Ten minutes into the half, some excellent movement between Carstairs and the onside Tilly saw Schneider round the keeper and slot home to level the scores. Having rattled Cadnam, the Otterbourne defence which welcomed back M. Gleeson this week and debutant Z. Effron (replaced by Black after 80mins), soaked up the pressure as Cadnam continued to press forward.

After 60 minutes the Cadnam no.9 rose to head the away team in front again. Unfortunately, a quick third goal saw heads drop for Otterbourne. Spurned on by a notoriously fair challenge by Warren, Otterbourne did fight back with Tilly only inches away from lobbing the keeper and from the resulting corner,

Otterbourne hit the bar from a glancing header by Schneider. Porter continued to rally the troops, but after a penalty and a final goal for Cadnam the game ended 5-1, which even had the away team admitting that the scoreline flattered them.
