Otterbourne Football Club 1st Team Match Report

Saturday 14th January – Bournemouth Sports 5 Otterbourne FC 2

By Roger Allen + Steve Harrod
Chapel Gate, Christchurch

Some clinical finishing saw Bournemouth Sports five up in the first half hour and the game was effectively settled by then. What people need to know is the team changed from the previous week by 7 players. At this level you cannot get away with with it!

With people still getting to know each other the ball was passed out from defence but un-fortunately hit Greenough on his heal and re-bounded to Tony Bellott who was free on the left. The defence tried to get back and re-trieve the situation but a good low cross saw Dave BLAKE volley home from close range. Five minutes later it was two with a replica goal. This time Ryan Bladon crossed from the left and BELLOTT scored though he needed two efforts after hitting the keeper.

In the 19th minute it was three as BELLOTT got clear on the right and scored easily from just inside the penalty area after in-decision between the keeper and defence .

Then Simon Croydon took over the scoring. In the 26th minute Sam Yeats floated in a cross which looked to be drifting wide but CROYDON stretched to glance the ball home with his head. Three minutes later CROYDON scored again with a header, getting in front of the keeper this time from a corner.

Although the scoring had been done by Bournemouth, the Otters had a good share of possession though they lacked the cutting edge of the home side. Paul Clark however was unlucky to see a shot palmed onto a post by keeper, Kyle Roberjot.

After the interval Sports took their foot off the gas, Otterbourne meanwhile stepped up their game and provided much more of a threat. They were rewarded with a goal after 55 minutes when a penalty was awarded for a push on CLARK. He stepped up to take the kick himself and sent Roberjot the wrong way.

A substitution was made for the injured Greenough Akland replacing him, his first action was to shoot straight at the keeper from a Thornton cross.

On 69 minutes the Otters scored again with a long shot by Adam JUDD which Roberjot could only parry onto the post before the ball hit the net.

Was a great fightback on the cards – not really - though both sides had several chances to score again before the final whistle.

Lets see who we have to pick from this week v Queen's Keep
